Zunheboto district has eight blocks with 169 villages. It is the district with second highest number of villages in the state, all of which have been electrified, connected by road and mobile phone service, have village council hall, Anganwadi Centre, fair price shop and Self Help Group as on 31st January 2020.
This was stated in the survey report on Local/Block Level Statistics for Local Level Planning 2020, published by Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland.
The Survey on Local/Block Level Statistics for Local Level Planning is conducted under the Support for Statistical Strengthening scheme during 2019-2020 emphasised on the major basic amenities available covering all the recognized villages of the rural development department.
About 10.6 % of the state’s government bus connects the villages of Zunheboto district and about 3.4% of private bus of the state ply in the villages.
The villages in this district are well connected by taxi service accounting to about 99 % of the villages in Zunheboto district- the minimum coverage by taxi service vis-à-vis other districts in Nagaland.
0.5% of the villages have landline service, while about 32% of the villages are covered by postal service.
13.7% of the state’s Government Primary School, 13.3 % of Government Middle School and about 7 % of Government High School are located in the villages of Zunheboto district.
One each of primary school, middle school and high school in the private sector are located in Lazami village under Ghathashi block.
34.3 % of the villages in the district have Sub Centre facility, 4.7% of villages have Primary Health Centre and about 0.6% of villages have Community Health Centre.
Veterinary Health Centre is available in 7.6% of the villages in the district.
Close to 22% of villages in the district have the facility of village library, and about 99% of the villages have playground.
2.8% of the state’s indoor stadium facility is available in the villages in Zunheboto district, while about 37% of villages have marketing shed.
Water supply (PHED) is available in about 96% of the villages in the district and about 3% of the villages have public toilet.
Bank facility is available only in Pughoboto village under Ghathashi block while one ATM booth facility is available in Lumami village under Akuluto block.
11.4% of the police station is located in the villages under Zunheboto district along with one police beat post at Satoi village under Satoi Block.
The report stated that 7% of the villages in the district have the facility of Common service Centre and 12.4% of its villages have street light.
