Tuensang, October 26 (MExN): One-day seminar on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 was organised by Sangsangyu Town Baptist Church (STBC) Youth Department with B Yemlong Chuba Chang, Advocate as the resource person on October 25.
A press release received here stated that the resource person highlighted the affects of drugs usages among the youth by bringing examples of people living with different diseases and how it affects the economy as well their personal values which ultimately devastate the Naga society as a whole.
Chaba explained in detail about the Act with the youths. The NDPS Act 1985 is the main legislation that deals with drugs and their trafficking. Various provisions of the Act punish production, manufacture, possession, sales, purchase, transport, consumption and use of banned drugs.
He further encouraged the civil societies to look after the youth who are engaged in drugs usages in their locality and also it is their duties to take such steps like creating awareness programme in their respective jurisdiction. Offenders are to be booked and punished as per the NDPS Act 1985.More than hundred youths attended the seminar.
