‘Stigma among HIV/AIDS patients should be removed’

The five days refresher programme for counselors of Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART)/ Communal Care Centre (CCC) organized by Department of Education, SSR Nagaland University Kohima Campus concluded today at DUDA Guest House Kohima.

Altogether 11 participants from Mizoram and Kohima Participated in the five days refresher programme. 

Speaking at the closing function, Joint Director, NSACS, Health & Family Welfare, Dr Lima expressed his gratitude to the organizers for conducting programme adding that stigma and discrimination among HIV/AIDS patients should be removed.

Calling upon the councilors, Joint Director said it is the duty of the councilors to treat the infected people properly and bring positive change for the infected patients.

While assuring full co-operation from the faculty, Lima also said counseling job not an easy task, the councilors should find and trace the patients, and should bring back them to society.

Assistant Prof, Department of Education and Faculty Incharge, Dr. Lungsang in her brief address thanked the participants for their participation, and urged upon the participants to refresh their skills and continue to enlighten the patients with more sincere and dedication.

Participants from both the states also delivered short speeches acknowledging the organizers for adding more information to what they have known.

Earlier the programme was chaired by Asst. Prof, Department of Education Nagaland University, Khotole Khieya and vote of thanks was pronounced by Avino Zinyu, Capacity Building Assistant, Saksham, SSR-GFATM, Nagaland University.
