Phek, June 7 (MExN): Highlighting the achievement of four years BJP led NDA Government at Pfutsero, the Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton called upon the religious leaders to stop confusing the Naga people by mixing religion with politics.
It was stated in a press release that addressing the celebration held at the Centre in Pfutsero Town on June 7, Patton said “BJP has no connections with religion as it is only a political party, which is committed towards the all round development and welfare of the people”.
Lamenting that BJP was branded as ‘anti-Christian’ during the February Assembly elections and the just concluded Lok Sabha bye-poll in the State, the Deputy CM said, “BJP government at the centre has completed four years, while BJP is also ruling in almost all the North Eastern states, but has it tortured any humiliation to the Christians of the region?”
Appealing Naga people to stop hating BJP and not to be fooled by the false religious propaganda, Patton said, “a resource crunch state like Nagaland which always depends on the grants from the Central government should always have good relation with the ruling party.”
“Even if we have joined BJP we have not changed our religion and we continue to be Christians, and we are in BJP to speak out loud if anything goes wrong against the Christians of the state and the region,” Patton asserted.
Acknowledging the people for the support extended to the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) in the State, the Deputy CM said the last government in the state had witnessed continuous crisis for four years but the present PDA government is committed to bring about change in development.
“The alliance partners are intact and we will ensure stability of government to deliver goods to the people,” he said, adding “PDA will remain strong and will always stand firm behind Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s leadership”.
Pointing out that Phek district which has five Assembly seats did not support BJP while only one NDPP nominee Neiba Kronu was able to succeed, Patton expressed the hope that the people would come out strongly in favour of the PDA candidate in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and also have no hesitation to elect its candidates in the next State Assembly elections.
Encouraging the people of the district, the Deputy CM declared that even as the entire district has only one elected member in the government but the PDA government would always take up developmental works without any biasness.
Patton said that under the leadership of Narenda Modi, India has received a strong, decisive and pro people government.
Enroute to the venue of celebration, the Deputy Chief Minister also planted tree saplings on the road side at Kami village and at Glory Peak Pfutsero.
BJP State Executive Member, Mughato Achumi, State General Secretary Eduzü Thelüo and BJP ex-candidate & state executive member Kevechutso Doulo also addressed the gathering. Besides the BJP party people, NDPP party leaders and supporters also attended the celebration.
