Dimapur, November 20 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union today strongly reacted to the news item issued by the Chang Khulei Setchang (CKS), who said that the Intangaki Reserved Forest does not belong to any particular tribe, and declared that the CKS views on Ntangki and supporting ‘land encroachers to grab more land in Ntangki is beyond tolerance.’ The ZSUhas advised against playing ‘too much politics’ over the Intangki Reserved Forest issue.
A ZSU statement through its president, Lungchui, termed as unfortunate the viewpoint of CKS on the Intangki Reserved Forest dispute.
“It is unfortunate that the CKA being a public body of the Chang community does not seems to understand the historical facts and land rights of the Zeliangrong people.”
The ZSU opined that the Chang Students Union would also be equally offended if the people started saying that Tuensang town belongs to the Nagas and that all the vacant lands of Chang people be settled or inhibited by general populace of all the Naga tribes.
The Zeliangrong Students’ Union asserted that ‘Ntangki belongs to Beisumpui village of the Zeliangrong people under Peren district and its traditional land ownership and historical facts does not need to be questioned by anybody. The ZSU, in this regard, opined that history cannot be changed and that can never be changed that Ntangki belongs to Beisumpui village.
“In a democratic world, all people have freedom of expressions but the CKS views on Ntangki and supporting the land encroachers to grab more land in Ntangki is beyond tolerance,” the ZSU declared.
In this connection the ZSU asserted that the ‘Ntangki’ is not a political party where one has to take sides or vote for it in anybody’s favor.
“Let us not play too much politics with Ntangki,” the ZSU suggested, “Let us try to respect each others’ history, traditional land ownership and boundaries of each others land.”
The Zeliangrong Students’ Union hoped that good sense would prevail upon the CKS and that the Naga brethren would live in their respective lands as great sons of the soil for peaceful co-existence within the Naga country.
