Storm disrupts power supply in various districts

Dimapur, May 17 (MExN): The heavy rain and storm on May 16 has disrupted the power supply in several places of Nagaland. Power supply to Medziphema and surrounding areas and Peren district has been affected due to the rain storm that occurred on May 16, informed a press release from Executive Engineer, Electrical Transmission Division, Dimapur. One of the double pole structures of the 33kVfeeder concerned has collapsed near ILP check gate, Chümoukedima, it said. Restoration works are in progress; hence, affected consumers have been requested to bear the inconvenience.   In a separate press release, Executive Engineer, Transmission Division, Kohima informed that the power supply to many parts of Kohima, Wokha, Tseminyu and Pughoboto has been disrupted due to the heavy storm. The Power Department could restore the power supply to most of the areas on May 17 except Wokha, Tseminyu and Pughoboto area due to the inability to restore the 132 kV Kohima-Wokha Transmission line, which got snapped near Chiephobozou, because of the difficult terrain. Assuring that the department is making all efforts to repair and restore the power supply at the earliest, the Executive Engineer has asked the public to bear with the inconvenience caused.
