Street brawl lands one in hospital with bullet wounds

DIMAPUR, JUNE 3 (MExN): One man was shot and seriously injured by unidentified persons on the night of June 2 at around 10:00 pm. The injured was identified as one Athili Mao (30 years), son of Sani Mao of Makhel village under Senapati district in Manipur.
The Additional Superintendent of Police, Dimapur Wati Jamir informing of the incident said that the shooting occurred near ‘Yak Hotel’ located at ‘Ellora Lane’, below the New Flyover. The man suffered three bullet wounds to the head and body and is now in a state of coma at ZHRC.
According to information received, prior the shooting the injured alongwith a friend went to the aforementioned hotel to have a few drinks, the Additional SP said. Four other persons were already in the hotel occupying a separate table. As the number of drinks increased, the two parties got involved in a verbal argument ending a scuffle. The disagreement was purportedly over passes made by the injured towards one of the female attendants of the hotel.
Following the scuffle, the four persons left the hotel. After a while, the duo also decided to leave, another source said. As his friend was paying the bill, the injured is said to have went out of the hotel. The four other persons were still in the vicinity and a second skirmish is believed to have occurred, in the midst of which, shots were fired at him. The foursome fled the scene after the shooting.
Efforts are on to identify and nab the culprits, the Additional SP added.
