Wokha, February 13 (MExN): Joining the rest of the State, District Urban Development Agency, Wokha under SUDA in collaboration with Food Safety, Wokha under Health and Family Welfare organized Shehri Samridhi Utsav (Street Food Festival) at Police Point and NST on February 13. The food stalls were inaugurated by ADC & Administrator, Wokha Town Council Mhathung Tsanglao and EAC (HQ), Arhomo Yanthan respectively, stated a DIPR report.
Ten Self Help Groups (SHGs), in total participated in selling varieties of products like fast food and vegetables. Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, the ADC encouraged the SHGs to conduct such events on routine basis to enhance their economy and sustainability after obtaining proper registration from the Town Council.
He also emphasized on maintaining hygiene and other safety measures while selling food products and appealed to keep their area clean, further urging the participants to discourage use of plastic bags. The event is aimed at providing platform to SHGs and extending outreach to poorest of the poor and most vulnerable to showcase its initiatives and facilitate access of SHG members. The inauguration function was chaired by Members Secretary, DUDA Wokha, Kiniholi and Community Organizer, DUDA Wokha, Renbeni Odyuo respectively.
