DC Kiphire Temsuwati Longkumer launching the Mobile Medical Unit at District Hospital Kiphire on June 18.

Kiphire, June 19 (MExN): In continuation of efforts to strengthen social protection and healthcare delivery in rural areas of Nagaland, a new Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) was launched at Kiphire. The project is being implemented by The Entrepreneurs Associates (tEA) as the local partner and supported by TATA AIG General Insurance Company Ltd, in collaboration with Swasti and the CMO of Kiphire.
The initiative was officially flagged off by DC Kiphire Temsuwati Longkumer at the District Hospital conference hall, Kiphire on June 18.
In his address, the DC Kiphire commended the partnership and reaffirmed that the district health workforce is giving its best despite the challenging terrain. He encouraged doctors and nurses to further enhance their outreach program with this MMU project, enabling healthcare in remote areas of Kiphire, which continues to be one of the most inaccessible areas of the state due to its difficult terrain.
Earlier, the programme began with welcome address by Cukhoyi Chiero, Zonal Head tEA, who highlighted the significance of bringing healthcare access to remote communities. The dedication prayer for the MMU was led by Pastor Nusu Tunyi of Tenyimi Baptist Church.
Dr R Wapang lmchen, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kiphire, provided an overview of the MMU’s purpose and scope, emphasising its role in filling healthcare service gaps, particularly for the elderly and persons with disabilities.
Representing TATA AIG, Madhukar Sinha, President, Government & Rural Business, shared the company’s ongoing commitment to rural health and social protection. He emphasised that MMU will enable rural populations to access to health care without travelling in search of health careeven as TATA continues to provide health insurance to the most vulnerable groups of society.
P Bhoopathy, Director of Social Protection at Swasti, provided a brief overview of the MMU project, which is already underway in Zunheboto District. He also shared about Social Protection Project, which concluded in Zunheboto and Phek, having exceeded its target by enrolling 16,000 beneficiaries under various health protection schemes.
The Social Protection Project will now be undertaken in Kiphire and Peren Districts for this financial year. Bhoopathy also updated that Swasti is keen for collaborations and initiatives to permeatehealth coverage across rural communities in Nagaland and its neighbouring states.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Chunjanglu Gracy, Operations Supervisor of tEA.
The event was attended by representatives from Tata AIG, Swasti, tEA team, District Administration, Chief Medical Officer, NHM officials, as well as doctors, nurses, and staff from District Hospital Kiphire.
