Stress & hypertension may cause diabetes

  Kiphire, November 14 (MExN): District Health Society Kiphire, organise awareness programme on World Diabetes Day at district hospital Kiphire on November 14.   The programme was chaired by Dr. Dhenni Thonger, Medical Officer (IDSP). Thonger greeted the programme attendees and said it is one of the important steps taken to fight against diabetes disease, stated a press release issued by Atsali T, District Media Officer, CMO Office, Kiphire.   The programme was initiated by Non Communicable Disease (NCD) team Kiphire, the programme offers free health check up for blood pressure, blood sugar, body mass index etc, and free medicine was provided to the needy patients. Speaking at the programme Chief Medical Officer Kiphire Dr, E. Motsuthung Patton said on the preventive measures to fight against diabetes. Sugar is not the only resulting factor that causes diabetes but it is also due to the excessive stress and hypertension he added. He also stress on the importance of life style and food habits and daily exercise to keep away from diseases not only diabetes.   Kiphire Area Students Union, President, Tsalumbi Sangtam who was special invitee at the programme thanked the medical team Kiphire and said this kind of awareness programme ensures better health and better development in the area.   According to the media cell CMO Office Kiphire stated that more than 30 patients above the age of 30 were treated at the programme. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks from Neiwhenu Kennao, NCD counsellor. It was attended by CMO, MOs, Nurses, NCD staffs, District Media Officer CMO Office Kiphire.
