Longsa, January 10: Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (Ongpangkong Range Students Conference) under Mokokchung district celebrated its Golden Jubilee (1964-2014) at Longsa village from January 9 & 10, 2014 on the theme, ‘Alizung’ (which literally means Goal Setting). More than 800 delegates, invitees and guests attended the jubilee celebration.
OKM celebrates golden Jubilee
The golden Jubilee celebration which started on January 9 evening culminated today, with the main proagamme being graced by Nagaland Health Minister Imkong L Imchen as the chief guest. Imkong L Imchen, while speaking at the programme, encouraged the students to take whatever resolutions they pass at the golden jubilee very seriously and try to implement it wholeheartedly. He encouraged the students to be an ‘ambassador’ and spread the points of resolution to their respective village councils and the villagers, so that the ‘resolution’ could be implemented fully.

He maintained that if the ‘office bearers’ do not implement the ‘resolutions’ and if the students depend on the office bearers to implement the resolutions then, it will lead to nothing but failure. He therefore asked for collective responsibility from each and every Ongpangkong range students so that they can become ‘victorious’ at the end.
Meanwhile, the first president of OKM, Merenjemba also spoke at the programme and narrated the hardships that the pioneers of the OKM underwent while they were about the start the OKM. He pointed out that there was no telephone and no vehicles, they had to walk on foot to different villages and spared the idea of starting the Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang. He advised the students to be honest, to have integrity and fear God, so that the OKM can invoke more God’s blessings.
