Dimapur, February 11 (MExN): Three Dimapur-based apex Ao organisations have appealed to the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, for a thorough and unbiased probe into the reported assault of a college student by the Anti Vehicle Theft Squad (AVTS) of Nagaland Police on January 29.
A thorough and unbiased investigation is required so that fitting punishment can be given to the perpetrators, said a joint statement by the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD), Dimapur Watsu Telongjem (DWT), and Dimapur Ao Lanur Telongjem (DAYO).
Meanwhile, to ensure that such unfortunate incidents are not repeated in the future, the trio strongly advocates for proper standard operating procedures, the orientation of cops on special duties, and public sensitization regarding matters of public threat perception.
The three organisations also appreciated CP Dimapur for the timely suspension of the cops involved in the assault on Moalong Jamir on January 29.
The ASTD, DWT, and DAYO expressed gratitude to all student bodies, Civil Society Organisations, and other organisations for extending their unflinching support in demanding justice.
