Student orgs picket SDEO office in Peren

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 9 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students’ Union (N) and Kuki Students’ Organization (N) on Wednesday conducted its first phase of agitation by picketing the SDEO office, Peren after the State Government failed to fulfill their charter of demand submitted on June 20, 2016 against what it alleged as “backdoor appointment of 16 primary teachers under SSA.”

The student bodies, in a joint press statement have warned that if the Government fails to fulfill their charter of demand, “extreme action will be implemented to the extent of locking the office indefinitely.”

The charter of demands submitted to the government sought immediate termination of all 16 primary teachers and the order to this effect published in all local dailies with a copy endorsed to ZSU (N) and KSO (N).

It had also demanded immediate conduct of open recruitment on or before August 5 at the district level for free and fair participation of all indigenous candidates with DC Peren as chairman and SDEO as member secretary. Further, it had demanded that two representatives each from the school education department, ZSUN and KSO Nagaland should assist the DC and SDEO.

The ZSU (N) and KSO (N) informed all the federating units to extend more cooperation, adding further information will be given in due course.

The statement was appended by Paotinsei Khongsai, president, KSO (N) and Amongbo Zeliang, president, ZSU (N).
