Students challenged to be transformers of society

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 17 (MExN): The 56th annual conference of Suruhoto Tokukujo Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (STKK) that got underway on January 12 last at Kholeboto under theme “akukuxu tiqheli”  (competitive era) concluded on Saturday with H. Khehovi Yepthomi, Assistant Director, Rural Development gracing the occasion as guest of honor, who challenged the students to be transformers of the society.  

Addressing the students at the valedictory session, guest of honor told the students that time, which cannot be brought even with money, is one important aspect in ones’ life and as students one should realize the value of time and make good use of it with proper management.  

Referring to the theme of the conference, Khehovi said “we cannot compete with others unless we change and equip ourselves with what would qualify us to compete with others in this era of competition”. He reminded the students that certificates and degrees alone would not help us to compete and attain success, if it don’t come along with knowledge and education. So also he was of the view that application of education and knowledge without God given common sense and wisdom is meaningless.  

Stating that love of easy money, which is the root of all evil and corruption, has corrupted the Naga society to a great extend that it was high time for students to join hands and work together eradicate corruption from within us and to bring transformation to our crisis stricken society, which is the need of the hour. He challenged the students to contribute their ideas and wisdom to build a strong and progressive society for Naga people.  

Quoting “Where there is faith, there is love; where there is love, there is peace; where there is peace, there is God; and where there is God; there is no need”, guest of honor said as Christians, we must put God before us in everything we do and as well absorb ourselves in the spirit of honesty and righteousness.  

Khehovi Yepthomi also spelled out to give academic excellence award of Rs. 50,000 to any student from Suruhoto Range of passes HSLC or HSSLC on top ten lists in the next three years.  

The Guest of honour was accorded a warm reception by the students and the host village. The concluding day of the conference witnessed various cultural activities and bonfire. Over 700 students attended the five-day conference.
