
Mokokchung, November 6 (DIPR): In observance of Vigilance Awareness Week under the theme ‘Public participation in promoting integrity and eradicating corruption’, a student level debate competition on the topic ‘Public vigilance alone can stem corruption’ was held on November 4 at ADC Planning conference hall in Mokokchung. It was organized by District Administration, Mokokchung and sponsored by State Bank of India.
After active round of debating judged by a jury comprising Dr. Toshimenla Jamir, I. Temsu Jamir, and Limalenden, Akumsunep Longchar of Jubilee Memorial College, speaking for the motion, bagged the first prize, while Imtitula of FAC bagged the second prize. Speaking against the motion, Tongpangchang Sanglir of Jubilee Memorial College bagged the first prize and Shingnyoh Khiam of FAC bagged the second prize.
Earlier, delivering the keynote address, Khape Kosa, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Mokokchung observed that corruption comes out of an individual intention while performing any duty or work. It can only be eradicated through integrity, transparency and accountability in all walks of life, he stating, adding public participation plays an integral role in combating corruption in our society.
L. Hanshing, AGM, SBI, RBO Mokokchung while speaking on the occasion maintained that corruption is a serious unethical practice that undermines trust and confidence and it can only be curbed by integrity in governance. Students’ participation plays an active role in creating awareness on corruption and fighting against it, he added.
On the occasion, Lemlila Sangtam, SDO (C) Mokokchung administered the Vigilance Pledge.
