Students encouraged giving more effort

Thonoknyu, January 13 (DIPR): The 47th Khiamniungan Students Union General Session was held in the Session Conference Hall at Peshu Village on January 11. Minister for Soil and Water Conservation, Land Resource Development, P. Longon was the chief guest of the Session.
Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the KSU for organizing such programmes and called on the students to be sincere, hardworking and dedicated. Stating that a student’s life is a short period, he urged the student community to give more effort in the journey of learning with the changing times so as to compete with the rest of the world. He also said that there is no limit in acquiring knowledge and from time to time we need to exercise and put our knowledge to test, improve skills and level of confidence which holds the key to success.
President KTC, W. Chuba and EAC Noklak, Thangpong also exhorted the gathering during the programme. Special song was presented by Mary Shiu while welcome address was delivered by KSU President, S. Chonta. The moderator for the programme was K. Shongmao.  Later the Chief Guest inaugurated the Handicraft exhibition at the Session Hall Complex and also inaugurated the Peshu Middle School building and unveiled the monolith. The Minister was accompanied by a host of Government officials and social workers.
Parliamentary Secretary for Fishery, Printing and Stationeries, S. Heno graced the 2nd day of the 47th Khiumniungan Students Union general Session at Peshu Village as the Guest of Honour on January  12, 2011. Speaking at the function he called upon the KSU to strive for quality education so as the advancement of the society marches along with time. He also encouraged the students to be like him as a good leader.
The welcome address was delivered by the Chairman Peshu Village Council, Kui. Kusong Students Union entertained the gathering with their meaningful and melodious song. General Secretary Eastern Region Khiamniungan Students Union and BDO, Kiphire, P. Mulai delivered short speech during the function.
A host of Government officials and social workers accompanied the Parliamentary Secretary. The programme was chaired by KSU Assembly Speaker, K. Okie.
