Students equipped with skills on crafting qualitative research

LUMAMI, MARCH 28 (MExN): A two-day national workshop on crafting qualitative research hosted by the Department of Sociology, Nagaland University, in collaboration with the Indian Sociological Society was held from March 27-28. The workshop aimed to equip young scholars with essential skills and knowledge required for conducting qualitative research effectively and to foster academic exchange and collaboration within the realm of social sciences.

Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, Prof Jagdish K Patnaik who was the chief guest at the inaugural session, in his address, underscored the contemporary significance of mastering qualitative research methodologies. 

Prof Athungo Ovung, HoD of Sociology delivered the introductory remarks, emphasizing the pivotal theme of the workshop. The inaugural session was chaired by Prof. Temjensosang, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology.

Following the inaugural session, the workshop proceeded with four technical sessions, each featuring distinguished resource persons. These sessions provided invaluable insights into qualitative research methodologies, with contributions from Prof. Toshimenla Jamir, Prof. Maitrayee Chaudhury, Prof. Somenath Bhattacharjee, and Dr. Sandeep Gupta, all faculty members of NU.
