Dimapur | December 22
After a lengthy delay of nearly seven months between the payments of the first instalment of the CSS Post-Metric Scholarship ST 2021-22 for the students of Nagaland, the second-instalment was finally released by the Department of Higher Education on December 21.
This was confirmed by Toito D Chishi, President of the All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) who spoke with The Morung Express on December 22. He mentioned that the union had received the information after Minister of Higher Education & Tribal Affairs Temjen Imna Along had uploaded a post on social media showing the total number of recipients receiving their scholarship.
The social media post revealed that the total number of successful payments made were for 40,161 applicants while 371 were failed payments. Failed payments were due to inactive or closed bank accounts, the post read. On top of the post, the Minster added, “Don’t break my heart and disappear without typing a Thank You.”
ANCSU had earlier issued a press release on December 5 demanding the concerned department to disburse the second-instalment of the scholarship no later than December 15. “We will be cross-checking with the department to confirm the total sanctioned amount after the end of the holiday season,” he mentioned. In regard to the failure of payments for some of the applicants, he assumed that it could be due to the students not updating their bank accounts or having zero balance.
