Around 2000 Students’ delegates from 19 villages of Langpangkong Range in Mokokchung district today converged at Tuli for the 31st Langpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (LKM) or Langpangkong Students Conference general conference-cum-sports. The 4 days Triennial conference will conclude on January 15.
The Langpangkong Range is one of the six major mountain ranges inhabited by the Aos and located between the valleys of the Dikhu and Milak rivers in the Mokokchung District.
While Merangkong is the host village for this year, the conference is being held in Tuli Lenden, as the area falls under its jurisdiction.
With the theme, “Resilient Foundation,” it will showcase different programmes each day including sporting competition among the villages.
The inaugural function tonight started with Parliamentary Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Amenba Yaden as the Guest of Honour while Tuli ADC, Sentiwapang Aier and President of Langpangkong Tsükong Mungdang, I Tally Longkumer exhorted the audience.
In coming days, the main speaker of the conference, I Meyionen Jamir, Director & DIGP, Vigilance & Anti Corruption, Nagaland will articulate on the theme, “Resilient Foundation.” Various other individual including Mayang Lima NJS, District & Session Judge, Mon; T N Meren, DFO Mokokchung; and Temsumeren, PA to DC Mokokchung will give exhortation.
Besides the general session, the main highlight of the meet is the competition among the different villages in various sporting event such as football for Boys and Volleyball for both the sexes.
The sporting event is often emotionally charged and highly competitive as the winning the games become a pride issue for the competing villages.
Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India will formally open the sporting event on January 13 as the Chief Guest.
Besides Sonowal, various dignitaries from the state including Parliamentary Secretary Land Resources & Excise, BS Nganglang and Parliamentary Secretary, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, S Chuba Longkumer will graced the occasion on different days.
