Students make beeline for admission

Successful students of HSLC and HSSLC exams across the state today made beeline to various educational institutions for admission into higher secondary and colleges in and around the capital Kohima following the declaration of results by Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) on Monday.  

In such scenario, heavy traffic jam was witnessed here today and there is likelihood of similar traffic jam for some more days.  

A parent of a successful student told The Morung Express that he was caught in the traffic jam for around 2 hours to reach the main town after getting admission for his son at Japfü Christian College in the southern Angami side.  

It may be mentioned that the district wise break up of colleges in Nagaland in respect of govt. and private stand as follows: Kohima- 3 (Govt), 18 (private), Dimapur - 1 (Govt), 24 (private), Wokha- 1 (Govt), 1 (private), Mokokchung- 2 (Govt), 4 (private), Tuensang- 1 (Govt), 2 (private), Zunheboto- 1 (Govt), Nil (private), Kiphire- 1 (Govt), Nil (private), Longleng - 1 (Govt), Nil (private), Peren- 1 (Govt), 1 (private), Phek- 2 (Govt), Nil (private), Mon- 1(Govt), Nil (private).  

As per source, the number of students in 50 affiliated private higher institutions and 15 government colleges stand at 20,317 and 8,267 number of degree students respectively totaling 28, 584 students in 2016-17 under the State’s department of higher education.  

In Nagaland, there are 49 Arts colleges, Science-10, Commerce-15, Law-3, B.Ed- 8, M.Ed-1, BBA-2, BCA-2, MCA-1, and B.Music-1.
