
Mon, September 22 (MExN): Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB) Youth Students’ Ministry, Konyak Baptist Church Mon Youth Department in collaboration with Mon Area Program, World Vision India organised a district level one day seminar on Child Rights and POCSO Act for students of Mon Town on September 22, at council hall Mon Town.
“Do not allow anyone to discriminate you just because you are a child but know your rights and stand for your rights,” special guest Tuishimla Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee Mon stated while speaking at the programme. She urged the participants to be agents of child rights and also encouraged the teachers to instill dignity, confidence and self-esteem to the children and to be careful not to abuse them.
KBCM Youth President Bangshing Konyak who challenged the participants to be responsible and to educate the other children said, “You are representing the children of the entire community, so get the right message and take the community forward.”
“You are the cream of the society and empowering you to stand for your rights is what we wish to achieve as an organization,” said program manager WVI, Dr. L. Khobung in his keynote speech. CWC member Y. Nockyam Wangnao spoke on Child Rights and POCSO Act.
Meanwhile, during the interactive session students have raise questions in regards to child rights and POCSO Act which the resource persons have clarified positively. While, Shongmeth a class 8 student of sacred heart school challenged the participants with a slogan “One voice can save thousands of children”.
This kind of programe should be conducted at the community level as well, quipped a teacher. The programme was led by Manai Konyak, Youth Director KBCM, Phelem Naam Fellowship pastor KBCM pronounced the invocation. Nokong Konyak Students’ Chaplain and Temjen Sangtam WVI were the program coordinators.
Altogether 559 people from 18 schools from Mon Town attended the programme.
