Dimapur, Nov 28 (MExN): In support of the NSF’s demand for a CBI enquiry into the NPSC corruption issue, the Nagaland Law Students Federation (NLSF) has also asked the state government to fulfill the demand by November 29. The law federation also makes clear it would take appropriate action in support of the NSF’s warning in the event the demands are not met.
“It is apparent that the Nagas (have) lost faith in the NPSC and its examination system; there are enough evidences to prove that the exam conducted by the NPSC had never been fair” an NLSF representation to the Chief Minister appended by President T Lima and Deputy Speaker Theritsaba Sangtam stated. The law students held the opinion that the state government has not been transparent in its dealings. “If it fails to clear the doubts of the people by taking proper action when complaints of corruption in the government departments are brought to its notice, it cannot justify its claims of clear governance,” the federation reminded.
The Eastern Nagaland Students Federation also extended support asserting that it would not surrender rights of the students to favoritism, nepotism and injustice practiced by the commission. “The ENSF expects the state government will seriously take up the issue and allow the CBI to investigate the corruption by the NPSC for many years to save the younger generation. If the state government fails to take up any steps to cleanse the corruption in the NPSC, then the ENSF will take its own course of action where the state government will be held responsible for any eventualities” the ENSF stated through a release issued by President YP Chilho Khiamniungan and General Secretary P Methna Konyak.
In a separate press note, the Kohima Sumi Students’ Union (KSSU) also pointed out that the attitude of the State government towards the NSF’s demand for CBI inquiry raised some question. “Are there some big officials influential in the decision-making trying to create hurdles in bringing the CBI? Are they guilty in some way, connecting with the issue, that they are afraid that CBI may dig out the skeleton in the closet? Are they uncomfortable with the future implication of bringing the CBI? And all these in the name of technicalities! The simple logic is, those who have done no wrong should have no fear. Now that the NSF has issued the deadline to the Government all the students and well wishers must co-operate and remain prepared to undertake any course of action that the NSF may prescribe”, stated KSSU President Chisho K Swu.
