Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): Peace Club in St. Clare Hr. Sec. School Kacharigaon observed Earth day cum capacity building on peace building on the theme ‘Peace building through preservation of environment.’
Speaking on the occasion, Suzane Kulnu exhorted the youth to be the messenger of peace in the conflict situations, in the families, institutions and society at large. Speaking on the importance of earth day she said that Earth Day is all about appreciating the uniqueness of our planet Earth with its incredible biodiversity. It’s a day to educate people on the environmental, health, security and economic impacts of climate change as well as the opportunities and benefits that open up in the new green economy, she added.
She further shared some practical tips for caring our common home, the issue of water pollution and its effective management, preserving and protecting our environment and so forth. She concludes with a pledge to honour and respect all of creation through word and deeds and examples to protect and cherish “Mother Earth.”
Patrick. W. Tungoe, staff of Peace Channel highlights the role of the students as an agent for building and promoting peace. While delivering his message he challenge the students to be a channel of peace in their own locality and community and take Peace as their life mission in transforming the culture of violence to culture of peace without waiting for the political and social leaders.
Alan Paul, also spoke on Self Discovery, he said to succeed in life one need to know and understand our strengths and weaknesses. Self discovery is the first step to the ladder of success, he added.
Peace Channel Desk in a press release stated that the programme was attended by ninety two students and concluded with Sr. Clare Jose FCC, the animator of peace club thanking the resource persons.
