A consumer awareness programme focusing on accurate measurement and product safety was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Shamator, bringing together officials, educators and students.
The programme was organised by the Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection department in collaboration with the school under the theme “Accurate Measurement, Safe Products – Confident Consumer.”
The event began with an address by the chairperson Lanu, followed by a welcome speech by Among, both faculty members of GHSS Shamator. The session aimed to sensitise participants on the importance of fair trade practices and informed consumer choices.
Assistant Controller C Chullen Chang from the Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection department delivered a presentation on accurate measurement systems, product safety standards and regulatory mechanisms to safeguard consumer interests. He emphasised the need for vigilance among consumers to ensure correct quantity and quality in transactions.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Yemjong B N Chang, Senior Inspector of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, who acknowledged the cooperation of the school authorities and participants.
