‘Students should have clear career goals’

Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): The ICFAI University Nagaland (IUN) organised a talk on career in Corporate Sector, on February 4. IUN Dean Dr. C. P. Alexander in a press release said that speaking on the occasion Meyabi Arho Niphi, Sr. Manager, Personnel & Team Leader, ERP_HR Module of Oil India, Duliajan said that students should have clear career goals.
“Every student must have specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time bound (SMART) career goals,” he said. He pointed out that, with the technological advancements, “organisations are looking for people who can do things rightly, and do the right things.” Deliberating on the importance of hard work for success he reiterated that one can be successful only with proper Knowledge, Soft Skills, and Attitude (KSA). “Industries, toady, are moving towards Performance Management Systems (PMS) and Performance Related Pay (PRP); so to be successful you need the right KSA,” he added. Niphi pointed out that Oil India has its operations in eight countries. Its main activities are Oil Exploration, Production and Transportation. It may be noted that the Indian oil industries such as ONGC and Oil India produce only about 25% the total requirement of the country; and the rest 75% is being imported from other countries.
Earlier, while welcoming the speaker, Dr. Charles P. Alexander (Dean of IUN) said that Meyabi Arho Niphi was the first Naga to clear MAT, and to obtain MBA degree, from XLRI.  The other features of the programme were the release of Placement brochure and an interactive session with the participants.
