Longleng, September 11 (MExN): A sensitisation programme on School-Related Gender-Based Violence (SRGBV) was held at the Lighthouse School Complex (LSC) Hub, Bautung Government Higher Secondary School, Longleng, on September 10, with 790 students, teachers and non-teaching staff participating.
Representatives from GMS Station, GPS Shauli and GPA Nyengching also attended the programme, which aimed to raise awareness on school-related gender-based violence and promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The sessions covered the meaning, forms and prevention of SRGBV, safe reporting mechanisms, safe and unsafe touch, consent and personal boundaries, as well as relevant laws including the Juvenile Justice (JJ), POCSO and POSH Acts.
Participants were also sensitised on equality and inclusion and the roles and responsibilities of students, teachers and parents in preventing and addressing gender-based violence.
The programme was facilitated by District Child Protection Officer and SRGBV Chairman, Longleng, Ketobu Vitsu.
Resource persons included SDPO Longleng N Abel Kikon; President, PSC, C Shame Phom; Achung N Phom and Metlen Phom from Child Helpline; and Teacher Counsellor, SRGBV, Longkoi S.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing participants to clarify concerns and strengthen their understanding of prevention, reporting and support mechanisms aimed at creating safer schools and stronger communities.
