MANPAC announces intensified forms of agitations

Manipur People Against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (MANPAC) and six student bodies spearheading various forms of agitations against Citizenship (Amendment) Bill on Sunday announced intensified forms of agitations to be staged from Monday.
While calling for continuation of the ongoing “on road mass agitation,” they called for ‘black flag mass protest’ from February 11 and "motor less on road mass agitation with black flag" on February 12.
On February 12, students will surrender their Hindi text books to the Governor and the Chief Minister of the state, under the aegis of six student bodies – AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS.
Addressing a news conference today, MANPAC and the six student bodies further announced social boycott of state Forest and Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar Singh who alleged that the agitations against CAB was instigated by Congress.
Earlier, on Saturday, the Minister, addressing a public function at Kakching district, stated that the series of protests against CAB in the state was instigated by the Congress. "The Bill is passed it or not, there was nothing to be hurt by the Bill in Manipur," he said. "The Congress is attempting to create an unrest situation in the state by telling lies and wrongly interpreting the clauses of the Bill. If, after passing the Bill, migrants were influx into the state, then, kill us (people in the government) by hanging", the Minister said.
Strongly reacting to the statement of the Minister, MANPAC and six student bodies alleged that it was nothing but an attempt to mislead the people’s movement.
"His statement openly challenges the people and he was talking without knowing anything about the Bill besides contradicted chief minister’s stand against the Bill," MANPAC said, adding, “It shows his (Minister’s) low 'IQ' status", MANPAC convener, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar said.
The convener also said that it is a strong apprehension of the MANPAC that the Bill will be tabled in the house of the Rajya Sabha during its ongoing sitting, on or before February 13.
"MANPAC’s stand was very clear. The Bill must be totally withdrawn. Until and unless the Central government considers the demand, MANPAC will continue its agitations", he announced.
Meanwhile, representing the six student bodies, AMSU President Manjit Sarangthem said that the student bodies have decided to surrender the Hindi text books to the state Governor and the Chief Minister as part of its ongoing campaign against the Bill and showing solidarity to MANPAC’s announcement boycotting Hindi language in the state.
He then appealed the people to hoist black flags in their respective houses from Monday (February 11).
He alleged that the government of India has been attempting to eliminate the indigenous people of the Northeast with various policies bearing hidden agendas.
"CAB is one such policy,” he added.
