The World TB Day was observed at El-Beth School, Kiphire on the theme ‘Wanted: Leaders for a TB Free World’ with Dr Denny, MO DHK as guest speaker on March 24. The programme was organised by District Health Society, Kiphire. Speaking on the theme and the significant of the day, Dr Denny said that it is observed on the anniversary of Dr Robert Koch who discovered TB Bacillus. He lamented that despite the progress in field of medicine, TB continue to be the top infectious disease killer in the world.
Therefore, he called upon the students to dedicate oneself to become TB leaders by way of creating awareness and identifying TB patient and getting them treated as early as possible.
He also informed that DOT centre are available in health centre where the treatment is free and asked the student to avail if there is any such health problem relating to TB. Ajamo, STS while giving the keynote address said that TB is transmitted by inhaling of infected droplet nuclei discharged in the air by patient with untreated TB. He also disclosed that in our country every five minute 600 persons die of TB and also said that in Kiphire from January 2017 till date 144 TB cases has been diagnosed and treated. He also advised the students to keep ones surrounding clean and tidy and abstain from intoxicated food.
During programme, Akhrie and friends presented special song while Taliswu proposed vote of thanks.
