Amento Asumi, Programmer, Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench on Saturday urged the students to come out of their comfort zones, think big and positive and try to learn lessons from failures. He encouraged them to try out new things without fear of failure and grab any opportunity that comes their way.
He was speaking as the resource person during the golden jubilee celebrations of Coco Area Students’ Union (CASU) at Akuhaito town under Zunheboto district. Amento said it was imperative that students stop comparing themselves with others but to have self-confidence in their endeavours and use their time judiciously. Underscoring the importance of education, he said acquiring mere education would be meaningless if they do not strive for quality education and add up with vocational courses.
Amento said it was upto the students to create their own destiny by putting God first. “At this age where everything is in our door steps we should not become mere consumers but strive to be producers so that we can become self reliant,” he added.
He told the students not to depend on family and society alone but take responsibility of their own life. He encouraged them to be entrepreneurs without fear of failure and to start small and be gradually successful rather than starting big and meeting failure.
Pointing out that Coco was abundant in food produces many of which goes wasted, Amento challenged the students to take up food processing avenues for generating employment.
Hekato Assumi, an entrepreneur also shared his experience on how he became self-reliant and how he used food products available during various seasons of the year to remain self-reliant. He also shared experiences on how he made "wealth from wastage."
