Students urged to focus on values of life

Dimapur, June 24 (MExN): Unity College, Dimapur observed 13th freshers social cum annual day on June 22 in the college premises. The event started with a tree plantation by the chief guest, Prof. Pardeshi Lal, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University.

The College Dean Students Welfare, Mhonbeni Jami stated in a press release that the VC encouraged the students to focus on the values of life rather than marks alone. Prof. Lal mentioned about Swayam which is a programme initiated by the Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy – Access, Equity and Quality and MOOCs which is a free online courses available for anyone to enroll. He urged the students to register for these courses and acquire skills that meet your need. He told the students to equip themselves with skills and education beyond the classroom.

Pastor Among Lemtur of New Life Nagaland invoked God’s blessings upon the freshers. Dr. Lichumo Enie, Principal delivered the Welcome address and speech on behalf of the freshers’ was delivered by Julika K Sheqi. Speeches on behalf of the seniors and alumni were also given by Hachithung Ngullie and Krelo Vincenza respectively.

The 12th edition of the college magazine ‘Nurture’ was also released during the programme. Meritorious students in the recently declared Nagaland University Examination were felicitated along with Grace I Namgi who was declared the Student of the Year 2019 and Certificate of Excellence was given to Asst. Prof. Dr. Vivolhuno Punyu from the Dept. of History.

The formal session was followed by the entertainment session. Talikaba Longkumer and Atele Mero were crowned as the Mr. Fresher and Ms. Fresher 2019 respectively.
