Study exchange team from US in Dimapur

Dimapur Feb 19 (MExN): The Rotary Club of Dimapur organized a meeting to welcome a Group Study Exchange (GSE) team from the U.S.A at the Dimapur Rotary Centre. The team comprised of 5 members, Team Leader Rotarian Marlene Gargulak from Wisconsin, Don Rosenthal, Karin J. Larson, Nathan Buss and Sara Merz from Minnesota. The team was here on a 3 day visit to Nagaland their main objective being to experience different cultures and to learn firsthand about countries, business, people and profession. Their tour was sponsored by the Rotary Foundation.

The meeting was called to order by the Dimapur Rotary Club President, Pradip Jain who called it   “a historical evening as they are the 1st GSE team of ambassadors of peace and goodwill from the US. They will thus be remembered.” 

Each member of the team presented through a slide show the different faces of American culture including their personal and professional aspects of their lives. There was an interactive session where they answered questions asked by Rotarians and the audience based on topics such as elderly care, family business, medical insurance etc.

The programme concluded with a cultural dance by Naga Youths of Padum Pukhri. They were later joined by the GSE team. 

Speaking to the Morung Express, the team Leader Marlene Gargulak said, “Nagaland has beautiful landscapes and its people have immense energy. I really know that I will be coming back.” She added, “Rotary is all about partnership – it is this partnership that makes the world one.”
