For the state HSLC topper Delphi Oinam from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur it was a surreal moment, when she saw her name on the top 1. She was expecting to be somewhere on the top list but not on the top.
“I was really surprised and happy at the same time,” said Oinam who credited her success to her parents who have always been supporting and motivating her. She also thanked God for His favour and further acknowledged her teachers who have been motivating and helping her clear her doubts.
“I don’t have a specific study hour, but what I do is I study consistently every day,” she said sharing in on her daily habits. Oinam said that when she studies, she puts all her attention and focus on it as much as possible and she tries to understand the topic. “I think I go according to my understanding. If I understand a topic easily, I end my study hours early and if I have to devote more time to a certain topic, I do that accordingly,” she added.
Oinam will be taking up Science stream in her higher secondary classes from Dimapur and will be sitting for entrance examination to pursue her dream of being a doctor. She also loves painting and drawing.
“Studying everyday is really important and also trying to understand the topic is important instead of just memorizing,” said Oinam as a message to her juniors. When one finds a topic difficult, she suggested that it’s always a good idea to ‘approach our teachers and anyone who is able to help us.’ “Also trust yourself, because a lot of people cannot trust themselves. I think having confidence and trusting ourselves that we can do it is really important,” she added.
