Zunheboto, July 17 (MExN): The Satoi Town Youth Organisation (STYO) has planted around 600 tree saplings in and around Satoi Town with the main objective of promoting and protecting the environment.
The saplings provided by EAC Satoi and DFO Zunheboto were planted on July 6 during an environmental awareness programme cum plantation drive organised in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology under the theme “Global warming and its impact.”
Nockpai Konyak, EAC Satoi, was the resource person during the programme. He stressed on the global climate change caused due to human activities such as deforestation, excessive use of fossil fuels, population explosion, jhum cultivation etc and the need to save the planet from further change, a press release from STYO informed. STYO has appealed to the public of Satoi Town to render their help in safeguarding the fragile tree saplings.
