Swedesunuo Zao Kire, one of the 44 recipients of national teacher awardees 2021 from Nagaland said “Instead of complaining, let us work happily in leading our future generation. Let us all remember that the success of the future generation is in our hand.”

Currently, 47 years Kire is head teacher of Government Middle School (GMS) Jakhama under Kohima district. She is a lone teacher from Nagaland to figure in the prestigious National Award for Teachers, 2021.

She did her early schooling at Little Flower Higher Secondary School Kohima and then graduated from Baptist College, Kohima. She also obtained her master degree from Himachal Pradesh Open University and a professional degree of B.Ed from Nagaland University. She did her Diploma in Early Childhood Care from New Delhi.

Talking to media persons, Kire expressed happiness over selecting her for national award for Teachers 2021 by the Ministry of School Education and Literacy. She is now into 24 years of teaching profession since 1997.

She aspires to be an agent of change in a society by moulding and catering to the needs of the students, especially the poor and downtrodden in the village through her teaching.

“As a head teacher, my priority is to have good coordination with my staff, and give my best to nurture and mould the students and bring about a change in the society,” she said.

Recalling COVID 19- pandemic for the last two years, she said “I faced a lot of challenges in my teaching journey, as we are unable to go to school, she said.”

According to her observation, in some villages, most of the students are not having Smart Phones, some of the parents are using only keypad phones. So, even though we give online classes, we still have to give individual attention by giving all the Xerox notes to the students.

Sharing the initiative of Government Middle School (GMS) Jakhama, she said the school teachers took care of (24) migrant labourers children last year,

“Most of the students' parents could not reach them due to lockdown. So not only teaching, but we are providing them with food stuff and other essential commodities,” she said.

Kire said she has a new obligation to go through again with more dedication and regularity for nurturing the students in the school.

She encouraged all the teachers to give their best and be more sincere and dedicated for the betterment of the future generation.

“Instead of complaining, let us work happily in leading our future generation. Let us all remember that the success of the future generation is in our hand,” Kire added.
