Orientation workshop held in Phek district
Phek, December 8 (MExN): Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (SUMAN) scheme aims to provide dignified and quality health care at no cost to every woman and newborn with a vision to create a responsible health care system which strives to achieve zero maternal and infant deaths.
Phek district conducted one-day orientation workshop on SUMAN at District Hospital, Phek on December 8. The orientation was attended by DC Phek, Medical Superintendent DH Phek, Doctors and Nurses of DH Phek, DPM and staff of NHM.
According to Kutolu Nakro, District Media Officer, NHM Phek a brief power point presentation on SUMAN objectives, beneficiaries of the scheme and service packages was highlighted by Dr Kolhitso Khalo DPO RCH/UIP.
Presentations on District Hospital maternal and newborn health indicators performance of DH and on facility assessment checklist under SUMAN were also presented by Dr Tiala Longkumer and Sede DPM (NHM).
DC Phek, Sachin Jaiswal in his remarks expressed that for successful implementation of the scheme convergence from allied departments, involvement of the NGOs can play a big role in creating awareness. He also directed the facility assessment team to identify the strength and gaps of the existing facility.
A sensitization programme for community leaders, allied departments and civil societies and volunteers is also been planning.
