Sumi Hoho asks govt to provide adequate security

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 6 (MExN): The Sumi Hoho has urged the government to provide adequate security forces in the Lamhailamdi village area where several people were injured on November 7 during an ‘eviction drive.’

A press release from I Nikheto Jimomi, President, Sumi Hoho and Dr Vihuto Asümi, General Secretary, Sumi Hoho urged that adequate security forces be provided in the affected area, so that the neighboring villages are protected from any untoward incident.

“Such unwarranted incident would have been averted, had the government reciprocated to the appeals made by the several organizations, however the lackadaisical attitude to the matter had invited this unfortunate incident. Should the incident aggravate, the government should be held solely responsible,” the Sumi Hoho stated.

It appealed to the government to immediately grant “logistic support to the unarmed innocent victims who were grievously injured.”

Further, the Sumi Hoho urged the public to stay calm and refrain from any untoward activities that escalates the situation so as to maintain peace and tranquility in the region.
