Dimapur, June 19 (MExN): The Kohima Sumi Hoho while condemning the murder of Khoney Chang on June 15 in Kohima, has expressed displeasure at the state government for not taking any action against two persons – one of which is reportedly an NPF youth president–for involving in a past similar murder incident.
The Hoho has warned it would resort to its own course of action should the government fail to bring the two, including Vizovolie, informed to be Kezhiekie area’s NPF youth president, to justice.
Recalling the past incident, the Kohima Sumi Hoho blamed the government of not taking any action against –who the Hoho alleged were – Vizovolie and Zienuo of L Khel Kohima for committing a similar act taking away the life of one Yetokhu Sumi of Mishilimi Village at the victim’s own residence on February 14 this year, at Keziekie colony, Kohima.
According to a release issued by Qhukiye Swu, President and Howoto Jakhalu, General Secretary, the crime was committed “in front of many witnesses including his two minors”. It was stated that Lt Yetokhu Sumi was killed for his quarreling with Vizovolie’s laborers.
“It is beyond our imagination as to how a personality like that of Shri Vizovolie who is constructing Keziekie landslide culvert and also the president of NPF Youth wing Kezhiekie area could commit murder without any hesitation” the Sumi Hoho stated.
According to the Hoho, an FIR was lodged at the North Police station by the Keziekie colony chairman and subsequently laborers were interrogated but so far the accused has not been arrested nor was any kind of action taken against the culprit till date it added.
Taking a strong view at the implied indifference of the state government, the Sumi Hoho demanded immediate arrest of the two, book them under non-bailable warrant and grant ex-gratia to the next of kin of their victim. “The Hoho warns that if the government fails to meet its demands, it will take its own course of action” the Sumi Hoho asserted while appealing to all sections of people to condemn the ‘inhuman’ behavior of the culprits.
The Sumi Hoho also strongly condemned the killing of Lt. Khoney Chang on June 15, terming the incident as ‘most unfortunate and uncalled for’ when every Naga is trying to maintain peaceful co-existence. The Hoho, while urging the government to initiate stern action against the culprits, also conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Lt. Khoney Chang.
