Sumi Hoho wants more ATMs

Dimapur, July 12 (MExN): The Sumi Hoho appeals to the State Bank of India authorities to install more Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) in Zunheboto as the lone ATM in the town “hardly functions properly” not to speak of the inconvenience everyday thousands of SBI customers face.
Another demand of the Sumi Hoho, stated in a note addressed to the SBI, is that the bank shifts the ‘Aghunato SBI branch back to Aghunato’.
“The only ATM of the SBI in Zunheboto town is not at all sufficient to cater to the needs of thousands of SBI customers. The worst is that the only ATM hardly functions properly. There are frequent complaints of malfunction and breakdown of the machine and it has compelled the public to describe the ATM as ‘unreliable’, Sumi Hoho vice president Kitoho S Rotokha stated in the note.
The note claimed, “Zunheboto is most neglected by the SBI.”  “Another instance of step motherly treatment” to Zunheboto, the Sumi Hoho note asserted is that the SBI Aghunato sub-branch has been shifted and attached with Zunheboto branch for the last 10 years or so.
“Though he Aghunato branch exists and functions as an independent branch, this attachment has led to unnecessary overcrowding in the bank. For a government servant from nearby towns to come and draw their salary from the bank or ATM, the person is held up for at least a week in Zunheboto town owing to customer congestion in the bank as well as the single ATM which seldom functions properly.”
Public and government servants from Suruhuto, Atoizu and Aghunato are all availing the SBI services from Zunheboto, which naturally leads to overcrowding in the bank, the ‘hoho’ explained.
The Sumi Hoho has demanded more SBI ATM booths “numbering not less than three besides the present ATM. The ATMs should be made properly functional.” The organization also demanded shifting the Aghunato SBI branch to Aghunato immediately.
“There are approximately 4,500 SBI account holders from Aghunato. Once the branch is shifted back to its original place, the SBI in Zunheboto town will witness a virtually less crowded office. The time is not far when the public will come out in open if the above stated problems are not looked into at the earliest,” the note added.
