Sumi Patriots’ Day in Zbto

Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) in collaboration with the Sumi Hoho observed ‘Sumi Patriots’ Day’ on August 4 at the Patriots’ Monolith point in Zunheboto.

The ‘Sumi Patriots’ Day’ was observed to commemorate the death anniversary of General Kaito Sukhai and the Sumis who have sacrificed their lives for the general cause of the Nagas, a press release informed on Friday. 

On the occasion, I Nikheto Jimomi, President, Sumi Hoho and Kashito Yepthomi, President, Sumi Kukami Hoho gave short speeches on the significance of the day and a brief history of General Kaito Sukhai.

The programme was chaired by ZRSU President, Gihuka K Zhimo, while Rev Kihoshe Assumi, pastor, NCRC Sumi Zunheboto town pronounced the invocation. Immanuel Higher Secondary School presented a special song and various civil societies, organizations, leaders, individuals, institutions and students laid wreaths on the monolith to pay a tribute to Sumi patriots, the release stated.

Dr Hutton Sumi, pastor, SBCZ concluded the programme with a prayer for the slain Sumis and for the upcoming generations of all the Sumis and Nagas, it added.
