Summer camp organised for old people

Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): About 79 old people from 18 different churches attended the old age summer camp organized by Tribal Old Age Centre (TOACC) at Youth Oasis Centre, Eralibill, Dimapur from July 4 to 6. Sungit, Missionary was the speaker, while Temsula, M. Ritsala, and S. Ayangla Jamir were the counsellors.  

A press release from TOACC Director, Imli Amri informed that the campers, 60 years of age and above, were given practical teachings on living a victorious Christian life, certain do’s and don’ts for a healthy relationship, and guides on adjusting with and understanding their children and grandchildren. “Counselling sessions were a rush with almost all the campers wanting counselling and special prayers,” the release said.  

The campers were divided into four groups and given opportunities to draw and explain their work. They were also given clay to mould it into various shapes in retrospection of their childhood days during the activities time, while group discussions and testimony sharing were a major part of the programme. Candle lit service and feet washing service were held on the last evening.  

According to the release, it was a first summer camp for most of the participants. It quoted one woman participant as saying that coming to the camp was the best decision and that she was immensely blessed. The oldest camper was an 87-year-old grandfather, followed by an 85-year-old grandmother.
