Wokha, February 22 (MExN): The Deputy Chief Minister and Minister incharge for Home and Border Affairs, Y Patton on Thursday inaugurated the police platoon post at Sungkha (Tongti) under 7th NAP Battalion Bhandari in Wokha district.

Patton in his speech appealed to the people of the area to extend possible support and cooperation to the police personnel posted at Tongti platoon outpost, and also report the hindrances and grievances to the police, Media Cell Dy CMO stated in a press release. 

He also directed the police personnel to initiate patrolling in the nearby villages to maintain a peaceful atmosphere, while urging the CRPF posted in the border areas as Wokha district shares the longest border with neighbouring Assam. 

Speaking on the occasion, MLA and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon thanked the Home minister for making the long cherished dreams of the people of his area come true, because it has a porous border with neighbouring Assam, and appealed the people to coordinate with the police for maintaining peaceful environment. 

Also short speeches were delivered by Rupin Sharma IPS, DGP Nagaland, Meren Jamir IPS, IGP of NAP, Menangmeren NPS, Commandant 7th NAP, Chairman Tongti, Ajit Kumar Ranjan IAS, Deputy Commissioner Wokha. 

The programme was chaired by R Randanbemo Ezong NPS, Dy Commandant 7th NAP and words of appreciation by Sentilong NPS, Dy Commandant 2  I/C 7th NAP Bhandari.
