Supermarket Incident: Victims to be compensated under SDRF

Dimapur, October 14 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department has informed that relief compensation of Rs 4 lakh each would be provided to next of kin of the two persons who were killed in the in the October 12 incident at Supermarket in Dimapur.

In a press release issued through the state DIPR, the NSDMA stated that two persons— Holika, aged 33 years, and Vijay aged 45 years— were killed when some big trees got uprooted by strong gusts of wind and fell on a crowd of people. Two persons, identified as Moksodul Haq and Khetoli sustained serious injuries while four others who suffered minor injuries were discharged after receiving first aid at the District Hospital, Dimapur. 

“An amount of Rs 12,700 each has been provided to the 2 (two) seriously injured persons as per the norms of assistance of MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs), Government of India from State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF), and an amount of Rs 4.00 lakh each as compensation from SDRF will be provided to the NOKs (next of kin) of the 2 (two) deceased as soon as possible after following due procedure,” the release stated.
