Maligaon, November21 (MExN): The front luggage cum parcel van of Guwahati-Ledo Intercity Express got derailed when the train collided with an elephant on November 21 around 4:50 am between Titabar and Mariani under Tinsukia Division of NF Railway. A press release from NFR informed that the derailed coach was re-railed around 7:45 am with the help of relief team from Tinsukia Division. Initial enquiry revealed that the train was within its stipulated speed and a departmental enquiry ordered to find out details about adherence to protocols. NF Railway also stated that there has been manifold increase in the incidents of elephant crossings in the recent past and the incidents have to be seen in the light of recent spurt of man-animal conflicts.
