Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Yanthungo Patton, undertook a day-long visit to Wokha town on September 26.

Patton began his visit with a series of surprise inspections in four government offices, the Horticulture Office, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), District Planning & Machinery Office, and Land Resources Office.

During the checks, a total of 12 staff members were found absent. While acknowledging that most government employees perform their duties sincerely, the Deputy CM noted that even a few unjustified absences hinder public service delivery.

He urged all departments to strengthen discipline and accountability, emphasising that citizens must receive the services they are entitled to.

Later, updating on his X, the Dy CM emphasized that while most staff are performing their duties diligently, even a few unjustified absences affect public service delivery. All departments must continue strengthening discipline and accountability so that citizens get the service they rightfully deserve.

“I will continue such inspections to ensure that this spirit of responsibility is maintained,” he asserted.

Patton was accompanied by Wokha Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar, Superintendent of Police Relo Aye, as well as representatives from the Lotha Hoho and the Lotha Students’ Union.

As part of the GST Bachat Utsav campaign, Patton later toured shops in Wokha town, interacting with traders and distributing information on the benefits of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). He highlighted that GST, introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has simplified the tax system, reduced business costs, and enhanced transparency in the economy.

Patton also held a meeting at the Wokha Town Council office, where discussions centred on development and civic issues. He then visited the Lotha Hoho building and reviewed the ongoing development of a museum aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Lotha community.

BJP to educate public on GST benefits: Wokha President

In a related event, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wokha District organised a press conference at the party office in Wokha to deliberate on the recently introduced Next Generation GST Reforms.

Speaking at the press meet, BJP Wokha District President, Rhanbemo Odyuo, said the initiative was aimed at educating the public on the benefits of the new GST reforms across the country.

“Today we have organised this press conference to educate our people regarding the GST reforms in our country. This is a gift by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the nation, and our people should also have the opportunity to take advantage of it,” Odyuo stated.

He further highlighted that prices of many products have been reduced under the new policy, bringing relief to both the business community and consumers. “The business community is happy, and at the same time consumers are also satisfied with this policy of our government,” he added.

Odyuo assured that the party would continue to create awareness so that citizens in the district can avail the benefits of various government schemes.
