‘Surrender work if not confident in executing it’: Nagaland PWD (R&B) Minister to contractors

Kohima, September 26 (MExN): A review meeting for the PMGSY works was convened by the Minister PWD (R&B), G Kaito Aye at the Capital Convention Center, Kohima on September 25. 

Talking in the meeting, the Minister Aye pointed out that the standard and quality of the road and the time schedule is a no compromise issue henceforth, a press release received here stated. He lamented that the performance of the State as far as the PMGSY scheme is concerned is “not acceptable.” 

“New technology is adopted to bring about a change to this and that the contractors should deliver good roads to the public,” he asserted.

Aye mentioned that the “contractors should surrender the work if they are not confident in executing the work within the guideline of PMGSY” and added, “PMGSY being a flagship programme of the nation should not and cannot be diluted in any manner.” He further mentioned that the PMGSY setup will be restructured with well trained, professional and dedicated team of Engineers who will exclusively look after PMGSY works. 

Earlier, chairing the proceeding, Jt Secretary Works & Housing department welcomed all the contractors associated with the ongoing works. A brief introduction of the PMGSY scheme, provision in the SBDs and Ministry’s advisories was delivered by the Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) & Empowered Officer (NGRRDA) A detailed review of all projects - contractor wise was presented.

The outcome of the meeting was the assurance given by all the contractors to complete the works within the stipulated time without compromising with the quality, the release added. 

The Additional Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) and State Quality Coordinator, pronouncing the vote of thanks, complemented the “Minister in taking department in the right direction from day one of taking office.”
