Mon, March 14 (MExN): Shangnyu Village Citizen (SVC) has asked the NSCN (IM) to take stringent action against one of its Kilonsers who had allegedly abducted and beaten up the Village Council Chairman (VCC) of Shangnyu village recently. “…the same abductor should be penalized stringently as lodged within the stipulated time mentioned there in a complaint, i.e., on or before 15-03-2017,” stated a press release from SVC president, Thaknei Konyak.
The release further cautioned that the Shangnyu village citizens will be compelled to withdraw all forms of support and cooperation to the NSCN (IM) if it fails to fulfill the above demand.
“It may also be reiterated that his actions not only retards the co-existence between the people and the government but also a direct affront to the government itself and its ideology,” SVC asserted.
SVC president recounted that the VCC was “abducted unquestionably” by the NSCN (IM) Kilonser on March 5 around 2:00 pm and taken to a residence in Tizit Town. The VCC upon his release revealed that he was “severely beaten up black and blue without any prior reason,” the press release added.
Following the incident, the villagers of Shangnyu held a consultative meeting the next day and resolved to lodge a complaint against the accused, it was informed. Therefore, the dignitaries and leaders of Shangnyu Village Citizen went to the Hebron Camp on March 8 and delivered a complaint.
In this regard, Shangnyu Village Citizen expressed hope that the authority concerned will “handle the matter with proper conscience and reward the penalty as deserved by the defaulters, so to let the matter rest and gain normalcy as earlier.”
