SVSU calls for revocation of teacher’s transfer order

Dimapur, November 3 (MExN): The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) has called upon the District Education Officer (DEO) Kiphire to revoke the transfer order of the Mathematics teacher from Government High School (GHS) Seyochung to Government High School (GMS) Kiphire village.

The SVSU, in its press release, stated that Ravindra Pratap Singh was the “only Mathematics teacher” at GHS Seyochung and that the school has been facing serious shortage of teachers especially in Mathematics and Science subject.

Keeping in mind of the approaching examination, the SVSU stated that the students will be left without a mathematics teacher and that the students’ education would be badly affected if Singh was transferred.

At the same time, it stated that the union has asked with the DEO for additional teachers many times in the past. However, it stated that no action has been taken so far.

‘Instead of appointing additional teachers, the department is transferring the only existing Maths teacher, which is very discouraging and it is very disgraceful and disheartening to see such decisions being taken at a crucial time when students need guidance the most,’ it stated.

Given that the exam was nearing, the union has asked the DEO to revoke the transfer order and allow Ravindra Pratab Singh to continue teaching at GHS Seyochung until a qualified replacement is posted.
