SEYOCHUNG, MARCH 16 (MExN): The Seyochung Village Students' Union (SVSU) has taken steps to bolster education and healthcare in the village through collaborative efforts with local organizations.
During a recent meeting with the Youth Ministry of Seyochung Village Baptist Lithro, the SVSU requested a volunteer to teach Naga Heritage (Sangtam) at Seyochung Village Government High School.
The Youth Ministry accepted the request, with Youth Pastor Khumkise Anar agreeing to serve as a volunteer instructor. SVSU President expressed gratitude for the initiative, stressing the importance of community involvement in education and the promotion of the mother tongue in schools.
In a separate effort to support local healthcare, the union donated medicines to the Health and Wellness Centre in Seyochung Village. It also commended the health center staff for securing the district’s Kayakalp Award and for choosing to reinvest the prize money into improving the facility rather than distributing it among themselves.
Community Health Officer of Seyochung Village acknowledged the ongoing support from the Village Council and SVSU but noted that the untied fund of Rs 20,000 was insufficient for a village of Seyochung’s size. She also raised concerns over deteriorating staff toilets in the old quarters, urging the union to take action.
