Seyochung Village Students’ Union inspected the ongoing road metalling work between Sitimi and Seyochung HQ.

Seyochung, March 17 (MExN): The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) has raised concerns over the ongoing road metalling work between Sitimi and Seyochung HQ following an inspection conducted on March 17. In a letter addressed to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Seyochung Town, the SVSU has highlighted multiple lapses in the construction process, urging immediate corrective action from the authorities.
During the visit, SVSU representatives noted the absence of Border Roads Organization (BRO) officials at the site, “despite prior communication.” The union expressed disappointment over the poor quality of work, citing metalling work lacks proper compaction and durability as per standard construction practices.” Additionally, “there is no proper drainage system, leading to the risk of waterlogging and road deterioration over time.”
The Union also highlighted that the road does not follow IRC guidelines for cross slope, which is essential for water runoff and road longevity. “No culverts, ditches, or drainage structures have been properly installed,” it reported.
The SVSU has called for intervention from the ADC, Seyochung Town and urged the authority to take necessary corrective measures to ensure the quality and sustainability of this project. “Proper drainage, compaction, and adherence to road construction standards must be prioritized,” the union reiterated.
The SVSU has urged the concerned department and contractor to address these issues at the earliest.
