Kiphire, February 8 (MExN): The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU), Kiphire has appealed to the Principal Director of the Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, to retain Thripongchum Sangtam, a General Teacher, at Government High School, Seyochung Village.
The union expressed concern over the frequent transfers of Sangtam, which they believe have negatively impacted the academic environment of the school.
In a letter addressed to the Principal Director, SVSU President Longtili C Sangtam and General Secretary Tsise highlighted that Thripongchum Sangtam was transferred to Government High School, Seyochung Village, from GMS Yangsekyu Village on February 28, 2024. However, before completing a year at his new posting, he was again transferred to Government High School, Phisami, on February 6, 2025.
“This abrupt transfer has disrupted the academic environment of the school, as his experience and teaching skills were positively contributing to the students' education,” the union maintained.
The SVSU pointed out the shortage of experienced teachers in Seyochung Village and urged the Principal Director to reconsider the transfer.
The letter was also copied to key stakeholders, including Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Government of Nagaland; the Head Master of GHS Seyochung; Seyochung Village Council; Seyochung Village Suro Pümji; Seyochung Village Union; Seyochung Area Students' Union; and the United Sangtam Students' Conference. This move underscores the community's collective concern and their desire to prioritize the educational welfare of the students in Seyochung Village.
